Well, that was dumb of me. I tagged this with PKM when it turns out that the subject is holding an AEK-999. But what's the other machine gun?

Also, most machine guns (including the one in the pic) don't use clips. There are some that do, though. For instance, the French Hotchkiss Mle-1914 and Benét-Mercie Mle-1909 and the Japanese Type-11, Type-3, and Type-92 HMG. Most machine guns that use clips use an en-bloc clip fed through the gun as it fires, but the Type-11 uses a bunch of standard Arisaka Type-38 rifle stripper clips in this hopper thing on the side of the gun.

If I'm correct, that's a Type-97 heavy tank machine gun, the main tank-mounted MG of the Imperial Japanese Army. It was also occasionally fitted with some kind of optical sight that was slightly offset from the centre of the gun because of the top-loaded magazine.

I wonder if her weapon is closely based on a real rifle? The clip looks interesting sincd it would be used as a counter weight against the kick of the rifle. The ammo could be moved to the but of the gun, in favor of a scope. But, the kick would be worse.

It's a WWII-era LMG. The original M1919 medium machine gun this is adapted from wasn't adopted until 1919, the year after WWI ended.

Is that LMG used in WWI or WWII?

This piece must have been from the opening song of Nico Nico Chan Part 2 2014. That opening will make your heart ache.
