The blonde haired teen heroine of Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon. She wears her hair in a double bun hairstyle and is one of the most iconic wearers of that style. Her magical girl identity is Sailor Moon and she is the second Senshi to be awakened.

She is a rather ditzy and lazy girl who is prone to tears and complaining, but she gradually becomes a capable and brave leader of the Sailor Senshi. Despite her flaws, she is very kind and emphatic and willing to sacrifice herself for her loved ones.

She is based off of Aino Minako of Codename Sailor V, which actually predates Sailor Moon. When Aino is brought into the main Sailor Moon story, her characterization is altered so that she won't be a copy of Usagi. The mangaka Takeuchi Naoko also based Usagi off of herself.

She is voiced by Mitsuishi_Kotono and Araki_Kae (in episodes 44-50 due to Kotono being ill at the time) In the live action TV series she is played by Sawai Miyuu. She is voiced by Stephanie Sheh in the VIZ redub of the original Sailor Moon anime.

Due to her internationally iconic status and the series she stars in, she has made appearances in other works as well. The comedic series Robot Chicken features a parody of Sailor Moon. She also makes a cameo in the American First Person Shooter game Shadow Warrior as one of the few female characters who does not attack the protagonist for making lewd comments towards them and even assists him. She is not voiced by Mitsuishi Kotono for these appearances though.
